Frequently asked questions
When should a startup hire QA or bring in a testing service?
The honest trigger is when releases start feeling like gambling: bugs reach customers before you find them, developers spend more time firefighting than building, or a launch went wrong in public. Before product-market fit, you may not need us yet; a checklist and disciplined developer testing can carry a small team. Once real customers and revenue depend on each release, waiting for the embarrassing incident is the expensive option.
Do we still need QA if our developers use AI coding tools?
More than before. AI moved the bottleneck from writing code to verifying it: code arrives faster, in larger volumes, sometimes understood by no one on the team. In one 2025 survey, 16 of 18 CTOs reported production disasters caused by AI-generated code. AI-written code tends to handle the happy path and silently omit validation, rate limiting and access control. Someone still has to check the product the way users and attackers will use it.
Can you test an app we built with Cursor, Lovable, Bolt or similar tools?
Yes, this is increasingly common. The pattern with AI-built apps is that the demo works and the abuse path is wide open: paywalls that can be bypassed, API keys in client code, missing input validation. Founders usually discover this from their users, sometimes from their attackers. We find those gaps first and report them so they can be fixed, whether or not you wrote the code yourself.
How much do software QA services cost?
Industry rates in 2026 run roughly $15 to $50 per hour offshore, $35 to $75 nearshore, and $60 to $150+ for senior onshore engineers, and throughput varies more than the rates do: one senior tester can outproduce a cheap team many times over. We scope work as a fixed project or an ongoing retainer after a short call about your product. What we don't do is bill by the number of test cases produced; volume is the easiest thing in QA to fake.
